Mountain folks stick together during disaster

I was once told that losing does not build character, it reveals it.

The same can be said for disasters. I am proud of the way the mountain community has come together to help each other in this time of trial. Instead of looting, rioting and willfully destroying property, we have sacrificed our time and our money to help the firefighters in this crisis.

I cannot count the number of pillows and toiletries that were donated to these heroes by our communities. A special mention to Randy and Dave at the Squaw Valley Consignment Shop, Mary Dominquez, Suzanne Driskell, Nicole Lovewell and many others for spearheading this effort.

Kevin L. Gair, Squaw Valley
