Thanks to Rough firefighters for protecting natural resources

I would like to address the letter published on Sept. 12, titled “Fires harm park.”

I would first like to thank all those firefighters fighting the Rough fire. These individuals are some of the toughest, dedicated and professional wild land firefighters in the world. And I can assure you, none of these professionals would intentionally let this fire burn. I would like to point out the name, Rough fire. So far the name speaks for itself.

I hope all those who read his letter are aware that this person does not have all the facts. I am not sure how familiar this person or others are about this area. I am knowledgeable about this area, and the Kings Canyon drainage it is a very steep, rugged and remote area. It is very hard to access this fire, let alone putting firefighters in there safely to put a fire line around it.

It’s very hard to see the complexity and challenges our firefighters had and continue to have fighting this fire. This fire area will recover but the lives of the firefighters who have sacrificed their lives will not. God bless all those dedicated to protecting our natural resources.
