New testing will help students
Re: “Valley results mixed in state’s newest standardized test results,” (Fresno Bee, Sept. 10) With the help of the new adaptive testing methods, individual performances will greatly define a student’s weaknesses and strengths. This will help mostly in the classroom, where the teachers can find what their focus should remain on based on their students’ personal scores.
In the article it had mentioned that this semester, teachers will have to make a quick analysis because the district has not yet received the individual test scores yet. This could cause a minor setback for this fall semester.
As education is California’s primary tax fund, the new Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments will definitely increase the improvement of education statewide. As the funds continue to grow, I hope we can see a definite change in the graduation rate and college attendance.
Just like past generations, one of our main concerns should be to ensure a successful future of our community for the younger generations by preparing them for their future through a strong education.
