Nunes supports HOPE for Alzheimer’s Act

Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia; it is not a normal part of aging; it worsens over time, and it can’t be prevented or cured. Do not underestimate the silent, yet deadly power of Alzheimer’s disease. My husband is only 58, and has been on the journey for 10 years. We call it “death in slow motion”.

Congressman Devin Nunes is the advocate, the voice, and the hope for 678,446 California Alzheimer’s patients (one-tenth of 6 million nationwide) and their caregivers who make up 1.1 million Californians. Early detection and diagnosis is the most important step to managing the health of Alzheimer’s patients and their caregivers. Alzheimer’s diagnosis are rarely given or documented due to insufficient time, resources, treatment options, care planning, and support.

The HOPE act will require the Department of Health and Human Services to educate health providers about the new benefits and help individuals who face barriers in accessing care plan.

I thank Congressman Nunes for cosponsoring the Health Outcomes, Planning, and Education (HOPE) for Alzheimer’s Act (S.857/H.R. 1559). On behalf of Team Grego from Fresno-Clovis Walk To End Alzheimer’s chapter, I salute him for understanding and supporting the HOPE for Alzheimer’s Act.
