Follow law not religion
Imagine the secular country our founders envisioned. A nation finally free of the Church of England, a nation where everyone could be free of religious persecution, or even persecution for not believing in religion.
Now imagine a nation where every person working in government, every person engaging in business could freely discriminate based on their own religious beliefs. Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, Native Americans, Animists, Catholics, Lutherans, Mennonites, Jews, Taoists, Quakers, Satanists, Pagans all get to treat others solely based on their own supposed beliefs rather than following the rule of law laid down by the founders. It would be a total dissolving of the nation they envisioned and we would be reduced to chaos.
Our nation was founded on the idea that we should be able to elect our own legislators, law writers, and change laws as times change. The Constitution guarantees this.
The people presently cheering officials violating the law are seeing a very narrow future where their beliefs predominate and the beliefs of others are crushed along with the idea of the rule of law.
The founders genius of the rule of law will predominate.
