Caring Fresnans help injured stranger

Wasn’t time for introductions, so I am hoping some of the people who came to my aid when I fell will see this and know how very much I appreciated their help!

After a doctor appointment on Aug. 19 and a stop for groceries, I was ready to head back home to Coarsegold. Then there was a small “oops” when I tripped on the edge of one of those cement bumper “thingies” in the parking lot and went down hard on the hot asphalt. A woman nearby asked if I was all right, and I told her I thought not.

She, along with others who came, found tissues to put pressure on my bleeding temple and elbow. Someone called 911, and a young woman called my son. The store even put my groceries back in refrigeration until my son had time to pick them up.

Later, I realized how many good people are there when you need help. A trip to the emergency room confirmed that I did not have a concussion, but do have a hairline fracture of my shoulder. I hope after four to six weeks with my sling, I will be back to my usual 93-year-old activities and planning to watch my step even more carefully.

To all who were so caring, God bless!

Dorothy Lishman, Coarsegold
