Nashville honors Vietnam vet from Fresno
In July, we attended a 610MASS Air Force military reunion in Nashville, Tennessee. This was for all who had been assigned to Yokota Air Force Base in Japan in this squadron. This was my husband’s first reunion. The weather was hot and muggy, but the people of Nashville had warm hearts.
Having breakfast at a Cracker Barrel restaurant across the street from our hotel (one of our favorites while traveling) my husband was wearing his retired Air Force cap. We ordered, ate and then the waitress put our bill on the table. We were surprised when the waitress retrieved our bill, and then said someone had paid our bill. On the bill was a “Thank You for your Service” written.
We inquired to thank the person, however, she said it was a secret.
That evening, the reunion group went to the Grand Ole Opry, and when the announced before the show that we had special guests, Vietnam veterans, guys (79) of them stood up, and every person in the audience stood up, faced the group and applauded.
Thank you, Nashville, for your hospitality. To veterans, thank you for your service.
I am the proud wife of a 22-year retired veteran.
