Does anyone care about elder abuse?
I am a 67-year-old disabled veteran rated at 100% permanent and total.
I have been trying to report a crime against me that is known as “financial elder abuse,” as directed by several attorneys, but as yet had no response from the law enforcement agencies. It’s as though no one cares about the elderly, veterans or enforcing the law.
I have tried the Fresno District Attorney’s Office, the Fresno Sheriff’s Department, the Fresno Police Department and the Department of Social Services, without even getting a call back. I have been financially scammed out of nearly $10,000 by my wife’s daughter in-law, who had promised to repay me with her income tax return. She was also going to leave the state without repaying my money. Now she says to take her to court. She said “You will soon die, old man.”
We have since found out that she has done this to others. The law that is on the books is called financial elder abuse. This is a crime committed against the disabled, elderly or both. Does anyone really care anymore?
