Fresno Unified wastes money on consultants

Why does Fresno Unified School District, year after year, hire consultants or create another administrative position for hundreds of thousands of dollars when we have hundreds of bureaucrats who are underutilized in the county and state departments of education who should be helping school districts at no cost to the school district?

Administrators should be well qualified for their positions; they should not need consultants to help them with their jobs. And we have a school board, which is supposed to be the watchdog of the community, that follows like a lapdog instead of directing the administration to do what is best for our kids. Another weakness of the district is its lack of utilizing teachers and staff effectively because they do not know or use their areas of expertise. This is due to the lack of professionalism and good modeling by the administration and board.

People in our community are probably not aware that there are thousands of retired teachers and staff who would be willing to volunteer their help if they were treated with respect and properly utilized by the district.
