If men got pregnant

Tim Spangler’s letter (Aug. 14) referenced a prior letter that I must have missed, but he mentioned the lack of male reproductive rights. I have to agree with him on that, but it got me to pondering the subject. What if men had 100% of the rights because they actually were the ones to carry the child and go through childbirth.

Imagine the doctor saying, “Well, Mr. Smith, it appears you are pregnant. Perhaps from that great vacation a couple of months ago that you were telling me about. I know you told me that you used protection, but nothing is 100% guaranteed. Anyway, since the law was overturned, you have options after the birth, but for the next six or seven months, you have to carry this child and give birth. Congratulations!”

If men had the babies, there would be an abortion clinic behind every 7-11 with big screen TVs and free beer on Thursdays.
