We all pay price for poor health care

A recent story in The Bee says Medicare and Medi-Cal are now 50 years old. While we applaud these programs, let’s not forget that thousands of people do not have access to coverage because of their documentation status.

By ensuring everyone has access to health care, we can improve the health of our entire community and reduce the costs of health care in California.

When people lack health coverage, they wait to get treated, then the condition worsens and they are forced to visit the emergency room.

The emergency room visits are a hidden tax on all of us. We will all pay the price eventually.
