Carry out police auditor’s recommendations

An audit provides an objective and independent examination of a situation.

Now that the police auditor’s recommendations for Fresno’s police department have become public, let’s all work to make sure this examination leads to positive results.

The recommendations appear to be sound. Among other things, the audit suggests that all deputy police chief candidates must submit financial disclosure forms, which should make it easier for potential conflicts of interest among these candidates to be uncovered during interviews with the chief.

As a member of the police chief’s recently formed youth advisory council and the adult advisory council, I look forward to helping implement any changes that will improve our city and improve the relationship between the department and youth.
