Credit-card kids face lifetime of debt
Debt in America is becoming outrageous.
It appears more and more credit card companies and/or retailers are focusing in on the younger generation — in particular, college students. Many students are already struggling to pay for their education, so most students see this as a way out. The credit card companies use tricky tactics within their advertisements to sway students to sign up for new credit cards and, unfortunately, their advertisements are now impacting our children.
I was recently shown a new game of Monopoly. Monopoly now uses fake credit cards so the player can purchase their property. Monopoly does not include play money, as in previous games. This type of subliminal messaging will impact the most innocent of innocents — our children!
High schools should include courses on money management. Students are already going into debt before they begin their new life. Instead of starting off in debt, let’s help our children to be successful instead. After all, isn’t that what all parents want?
