POWs are heroes
How dare the letter (July 23) from Garry Rogers be printed about John McCain. Any person who spends time as a POW should be honored for their heroism — if nothing else, they are alive. Somebody needs to put Rogers in a box, beat him every day, starve him, torture him in unspeakable ways, give him no mail or contact with his loved ones or any body else, then see if he thinks differently.
Many of us came home in worse shape than when we left, with no support from any of the citizens of this country, but we came home after our tour was complete. POWs waited years before coming home and suffered a lot more than most. Some of us felt their homecoming was the end of our war.
