Obama’s silence

The Washington Post’s Marc Thiessen, in a July 13 column, described the deafening silence on the part of the Obama administration vis-à-vis the killing of Kathryn Steinle by an undocumented felon. When Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown, and Freddie Gray were killed, the president made pointed remarks about each murder.

Granted, the killing of Ms. Steinle was not police-related nor apparently racially-motivated, but it is a high-profile incident which Mr. Obama is avoiding. The prevailing reason why is the fact that Juan Sanchez, the alleged killer, is an undocumented Mexican and Obama isn’t touching this with a 10-foot pole in fear of upsetting the left over the immigration issue. This is either cowardly politics or an extremist position contrary to most Americans.

President Obama, the further he proceeds into his second term, is moving further and further to the left. Be it the Steinle incident, caving to Iran, ignoring the threat from ISIS, or commuting more prison sentences than George W Bush and Bill Clinton combined, our president is not a liberal, but a leftist in the tradition of SDS and the Social Democrats. And Hillary Clinton is his acolyte.
