McCain is a hero

“Heroic” and “hero” are used today as often as “incredible,” “fantastic” and “spectacular” are used for sports stars and popular personalities.

Heroic and hero should be reserved for a man like Sen. McCain. After being shot down and captured over North Vietnam, he suffered under the hands of his captors with dignity and perseverance. He was used as a political pawn because his father was an admiral in the Navy and his lack of cooperation caused him to suffer at the hands of his captors. He has served with dignity and is respected in the U.S. Senate, and he is a true American hero to be admired and respected.

“The Donald,” on the other hand is vituperative and bombastic. His xenophobia and self-aggrandizement have no rival among other Republican presidential candidates. Polls say he holds 17% of the Republican electorate under his spell. Hopefully the GOP can field a better candidate in the next presidential election.
