Clean, young missionaries tell real ‘Book of Mormon’ story
I have been a Bee subscriber for over 40 years and, in all that time, I don’t believe I’ve ever seen the coverage of any other Broadway touring production afforded as much attention as “The Book of Mormon” musical. I was disappointed to see that so much attention was given to a show that for over two hours mocked and ridiculed a religion in such a vile, raunchy manner.
Yes, I’m a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and proud that I have four grandsons serving missions all over the world, including Mozambique, Brazil, Kentucky and the Philippines. Interestingly, my grandson who is serving in Mozambique is the one who was pictured in The Bee article earlier this week.
These four clean, young men left everything behind, including family, friends, jobs and college to join over 80,000 other young men and women who have made the decision to go and serve the Lord for two years. Missions are very humbling, challenging experiences, but while on their missions, they have each come to love the people they are serving. Now that’s the real “Book of Mormon” story.
