Fresnans feel the pain of pollution with poor health

“Be careful on sweeping climate change bill” (July 10, Opinion, Ashley Swearengin and Lucy Dunn) highlights the steps that California can and must take to bring dangerous greenhouse gas pollution under control.

Unfortunately, while some continue to deny the reality of climate change, Californians are already feeling the high economic costs of extreme drought, wildfires and other examples climate impacts.

I am a fifth-generation Fresnan. I would like to defend this great city and our state. My sister has severe asthma and cannot live in Fresno any longer because of it. Will my 7-month-old son be forced to move away one day for the sake of his health? I would like him to see the beauty Fresno and California’s Central Valley has to offer.
