Be proactive about proliferating massage shops

I may be slow and dim witted, but I’m not stupid, although there are some that would argue that point.

However, I would really like to know what is going on in our city in regards to the proliferation of massage shops. It wasn’t but five or six years ago when there were barely 100; now there are more than 250, and that’s just the ones with licenses.

There are several non-licensed facilities that are operating out of residential units. We have a vice squad that’s responsible for these investigations, but they are also issuing permits like candy on Halloween.

One such shop that received publication in The Bee last year for illegal activities, has reopened. The “disgraced” owner has opened a new shop just a little farther down the street. Two shops of questionable reputation recently closed but are now open under new “management.”

I have little doubt that the same girls will be back in business. Am I the only one that this bothers? Come on Police Chief Jerry Dyer, what’s wrong with being proactive and not reactive?
