Valadao’s still works for immigration reform

In his letter to the editor titled, “Valadao fails on immigration reform,” Selma resident (and Democrat Party operative) Doug Kessler claims that Rep. David Valadao of Hanford opposed the Senate immigration reform bill that passed that chamber in 2013. However, Rep. Valadao was one of three Republican co-sponsors of HR 15, the House version of the Senate legislation.

The reason the Senate bill did not come up for a vote in the House is simple: There aren’t enough Republicans like Rep. Valadao who will vote for it, at least not yet, but Rep. Valadao has been vocal about the need for members of both parties to continue working toward a bipartisan agreement.

As a family farmer impacted by the immigration reform debate, I am confident that Rep. Valadao has “our back in D.C.” and will be one of the key reasons a deal finally gets done in the near future.
