Supreme Court advanced true freedom
Did five Supreme Court justices take over the U.S. government, overturning democracy, state laws and hundreds (or thousands) of years of legal and social tradition? Yes.
Was this a bad thing? Absolutely not.
For thousands of years, and hundreds here in the U.S., the government has regulated who you can choose to make a life with, in the eyes of the legal system. You never really had freedom of religion if you have depended on the government to enforce or agree with or even give permission, to your views.
Supporters of same-sex marriage celebrate today for various reasons, many of them inane, but to supporters and opponents: Make no mistake that the Supreme Court wittingly or unwittingly struck a great blow to advance true freedom of religion in America today by removing the federal government from the regulation of marriage.
