Fancy fashion, cell phones, free lunches don’t mix
I am trying to balance the article about free summer lunches for all children with the photo of the three high school girls, two of them donning cell phones and all with the clothes and jewelry of style.
Is it not ironic the statements in the article that “For some kids, this is the only meal they get. It really helps families here stretch their dollars.”
Just having one of those hm-m-m-m moments. I wonder how many meals monthly cell phone bills and the latest fashions can buy? Anybody know? But then the article also said “It eliminates the stigma that’s associated with who eats free lunch. It’s one less thing parents have to deal with, too.”
Of course, what was I thinking, we can’t expect them to parent their children, there must be a program for that too, right?
