No binge contests
After reading the article in The Bee June 30 regarding the Fresno State Farm Festival, I’m reminded of my strong dislike for all food-eating contests. All food-eating contests promote binging, gluttony and unhealthy eating.
The students in the Fresno State agriculture laboratory should brainstorm healthy and mindful ways to celebrate farm food rather than encouraging people to gorge their mouths with Bulldog hot dogs.
Binge drinking has been banned at college parties. The same ban should apply for food-eating contests. Just because we live in the land of plenty, we shouldn’t disrespect the human body with food abuse.
Good food is a terrible thing to waste at an eating contest.
