Fresno Bee letters to the editor: Trump lost, help Afghan refugees in Fresno
Trump lost. It is that simple
To my Former President Trump loving friends: In a time of crisis, would you lend a hand to those you don’t know? Would you accept help from your left-wing neighbor if your house was burning out of control, and the only help was your tree-hugging nighbor?
If you believe the 2020 election was truly stolen, OK. But in order to get me to buy into that, you need to prove it. That is all we ask: show us the evidence.
Come up with some decent ideas, ideas that the public buys into, and maybe next time you will win. In the meantime, please remember that we are all Americans here, and so are all entitltled to the same respect. Happy New Year.

Help Afghan refugees in Fresno
We have a lot of new families from Afghanistan coming to our area. To their credit, Bethany Christian Services is organizing their arrival here in Fresno. They are reaching out to organizations such as other churches to financially support them.
We should welcome these people into our community as they put their lives at risk working with the U.S. during the 20-year war in Afghanistan. It should be noted that the U.S. military was spending $300 million a day there for 20 years.
Interestingly, the military budget that Biden suggested for next year was the largest in the history of the world — $753 billion — and Congress allocated $768 billion. Yet we do not have enough money for health care for everyone, paid parental leave, a living wage, etc.
There is something terribly wrong with the values of our country.

One vote equals one vote, not more or less
We're still finding out who did what and when concerning Jan. 6, but what is clear is the strategy involved a corruption of the Electoral College.
The EC uses a formula to convert real votes of real people to EC votes. Whenever you apply a process to convert one thing to another thing, you create a path for corruption. If you pick an apple off a tree and eat it right there, you at least know what just happened. If someone takes your apple and processes it, what else was added or subtracted before you consumed it?
All it took was Trump saying he really won, and for a lot of his supporters to not ask for real evidence, and then riot. The plot failed, not because of the Constitution/Supreme Court, but because some people didn't fold. Without the EC, he would have had to prove fraud. My point is this: The apple doesn't need processing. One apple should equal one apple.

On abortion right and imposing religion
I write in response to Diane Pearce's Op-Ed (1.2.22) and the questions asked by justices of the Supreme Court in the cases seeking to overturn the landmark decision in Roe v. Wade.
All fail to address pregnancies caused by rape or incest or where continuing the pregnancy would threaten the life of the mother. None of them give any consideration to the impact on a woman having to carry to term a fetus in these situations.
Roe v. Wade provides an appropriate balance of a pregnant woman's federal constitutional right of liberty and the viability of the fetus. Those whose religious views oppose abortions should refuse, if pregnant, to have one. However, they should not impose their religious view on others.
