Fresno Bee letters: Chafing under pandemic mandates

Newsom and elites vs. the masked serfs

So once again, our governor is showing “leadership” by barking orders to the serfs that he and his fellow elites will not follow... namely, forcing us to once again put on a mask no matter where we go.

I recently got my booster, and what is my reward? Being forced to cover my face in public again! Make no mistake, while we will now have to cover our faces and mute our voices to go anywhere and everywhere, the Gavin Newsoms of the world and his friends in Hollywood and every where else will still be able to go around maskless, and they will still be able to have their faces seen and their voices heard.

But that is what is really about, isn’t it? The complete hatred for the peasants by Newsom and his gang of elites has been on display since the beginning of this “pandemic.” And now, they are actively doing what they have always wanted to do: keep our faces hidden, and our voices silenced.

Cool it with pandemic mandates

Fresno City Council President Luis Chavez said in a recent Bee op-ed that "if elected officials don't address our current supply chain issue, the delays would threaten product sales and the possibility of presents under the Christmas tree."

Nearly every item I ordered online or through the mail for Christmas was delivered to my front door within days.

This suggests that retailers such as Amazon, Kohl's, Joann's, Hobby Lobby, Sharper Image and other online businesses I purchased items from had a much better grasp of their inventory and supply chain than Mr. Chavez was imagining.

So, maybe politicians don't need to be as involved in the supply chain issue as Mr. Chavez suggests because retailers seem to have a pretty good grasp on how to run their businesses without government help.

I find it interesting how quickly the supply chain issue cropped up on the heels of a viral pandemic. I suggest the supply chain issue has more to do with vaccine mandates than anything else. If politicians really want to help, get rid of the mandates and let people get back to work.

Good for the teens, bad for Fresno PD

Truly pleased to see the article about the Her family on the front page of the Dec. 17-18 Bee. People need to see and read about the truly out-of-control, over-reacting officers policing our state and country.

Imagine taking these young girls, 15 and 12, “to the ground in handcuffs.” And then striking the 13-year-old boy and pushing him to the ground. Since it’s legal in California to record on-duty officers as these three siblings were doing, how exactly was that obstructing justice?

The article states they resisted arrest; wouldn’t you, if all you were doing was filming with your phone? How exactly did they resist? With words? They were up against strong adult billy club and gun-carrying cops “armed” only with their phones!

Knowing only the details in The Bee’s report, I commend the teens.

Respect for police was sorely lacking

After having read the article at least two times, it became apparent these young kids haven’t been taught to respect law enforcement. Videotaping as stated in the article is allowed by law. That alone doesn’t seem to be what caused this to get out of hand. Vulgar language and general taunting would be enough to push most of us over the top. Peace officers are trained to handle this.

But to top it off, pushing an officer was the ultimate action to force the officers to subdue these kids. Where in the education of our children (either at home or school) do we teach them that this activity is OK? Did the young girl know why the CHP stopped the person on the motorcycle? Probably not. The article did not say but it could have been for any one of a thousand reasons. These kids are lucky they did not end up in a holding cell at the county jail. A short visit may have taught them a lesson.

Law enforcement officers deal with a wide range of civil and criminal disobedience and generally are ready to put their life on the line to protect us. Is this how we should treat someone who is willing to give their life — that’s right, their life — for us? A lawsuit will not help either side is this situation.

Time to take our government back

If anyone still supports the Democrat or Republican parties and or politicians, them folks must be some kind of stupid.

Politicians and anyone wanting to be a part of them are the problem.

Soon there will be only one option — we must remove wanna-be kings from Congress, city hall and any other office.

Independents unite and take our country back! If not we will be ruled over by corrupt politicians refusing to serve “We the people.”

Over my dead body.

Sad to see Nunes go, wish him well

I am not affiliated with any party and not in a position to donate a great amount of money to politicians, but am sorry to see Devin Nunes leave office.

Before I was redistricted out of his district, he helped a couple of times with problems I was having, and even after he no longer represented me, he was helpful. No other person who has represented my district in the past has made any effort to help. I think he did a terrific job for the Vallley.

Hope he is successful in his new position. Can't blame him for leaving with all the hate thrown at him all these last few years.
