Biden and America as victim: Letters to the editor, Feb. 25, 2021
Biden makes America a victim again
Joe Biden is the typical Washington, D.C. swamp dweller. Everything he represents President Trump attempted to reverse.
Biden is working our nation into unlimited victimhood status that will ultimately manage to weaken and destroy our Judeo-Christian underpinnings and push the United States deeper and deeper into socialism/Marxism/collectivism as the position of the individual becomes progressively irrelevant.
The letter written by Bryan Syverson appearing in the Feb. 3, 2021 edition of The Bee entitled “Nunes is really enemy of the state” was, and still is, a major insult to those of us who do not, and will never, support identity political nonsense, but will support morally ethical politicians such as Devin Nunes.
Your use of terms such as “sedition caucus,” “domestic terrorists,” and “insurrectionist criminals” is personally offensive and nationally divisive.
You should be condemning the truly real insurrectionists who plunder and destroy, such as BLM and antifa.
By insulting and striving to bully those with whom you disagree, you only serve to give credence to the terms “ignorance” and “intolerance.” Where is all that tolerance that your crowd has been preaching from the pulpit of liberalism?
What about an apology, Mr. Syverson?

Let Chandler Airport remain so
The Historic Preservation Commission is way off base in its suggesting that the name of Fresno-Chandler Executive Airport should be changed because Sen. Wilber F. Chandler voted against women having the vote in 1911.
We can’t change the name of everything because the namesake did something that it becomes unacceptable to a few oversensitive people over 100 years later. Remember a few years ago when people in Fresno thought by changing the name of Fresno Air Terminal to Yosemite International we would get rid of the FAT on their luggage tags? The tags still say FAT because the airport codes are set by international agreements of the International Air Transport Association (IATA). These codes are used by pilots, the FAA, GPS navigation codes, baggage handlers, travel bookings, and therefore Chandler will always be known as Fresno-Chandler because its code will be FCH, even if you change the name the historians use.
Let Chandler be Chandler forever and thank the good senator for giving the city the land, which has served us well for nearly a century.

The need for Fox and free speech
AmerICAN, speak up. Let me get this straight: The Democrats have control of both Houses, and the presidency. They also have on their side MSNBC, CNN, CBS, ABC and NBC.
Then there are: Apple, Facebook, Google, Instagram and Twitter.
Now, they want to take “Fox” off the air! They are the hunter and we are the fox! Sly as a fox ... crazy as a fox ... cunning as a fox ... crafty as a fox. Long live free speech!

Foster Farms punishing union workers?
I find it interesting that Foster Farms was quick to vaccinate everyone at its Cherry Avenue plant, while those who work at the one on Belgravia had to sign up for a lottery in the hopes that maybe they’d get one of a limited number of vaccines. The difference? One plant is unionized and the other isn’t.
It’s almost as if they’re punishing their union employees.

Thanks for good vaccine clinic
My wife and I have both received the Pfizer COVID-19 inoculations recently, administered by the Fresno County Department of Public Health at the fairgrounds. For both the first and second injections, we were really pleased to experience a well-planned and well-executed event, in sharp contrast to the scenes depicted on the TV of other cities in the U.S. We were treated with warmth, friendliness, and professionalism in all the steps of the process.
Fresno County should serve as a model for all the country of how to do it right. I hope that when the dust settles on the pandemic, the Fresno County Board of Supervisors, along with the leaders of the cities and towns in Fresno County, can plan a public event to honor and thank all the volunteers and professionals who planned and executed this critical public service. As they say in the Navy, “Bravo Zulu” for a job well done!
