Back Biden, make America sane again

Why will I, a proclaimed Christ follower, vote for Joe Biden? Allow me to list some reasons:

▪ He will work for racial equality and social justice.

▪ He understands that climate change and pandemics are threats to our way of life that must be tackled head on.

▪ He is not a habitual liar nor baseless conspiracy-theory promoter.

▪ Though he opposes abortion, he acknowledges the need for choice in a pluralistic society such as ours.He also has seen that abortions dramatically decrease when birth control is easily accessible and women's health clinics are allowed to prosper.

▪ He will preserve Social Security and work to improve health care for all.

▪ He supports our allies and does not admire tyrants. He sees America as an essential player on the world stage, not a go-it-alone, all-about-ourselves nation.

▪ He supports your freedom to own a gun with reasonable safeguards in place.

▪ He will respect the democratic process and not denigrate our long revered institutions.

▪ He will appoint qualified, experienced, honorable people to surround him and will listen to them. When he makes mistakes he will own them.

Vote for Joe and help make America sane again.

Where is the news judgment?

There is something very seriously wrong with this country when the news of Nancy Pelosi visiting a hair salon in San Francisco gets more attention than Trump (supposedly) calling American soldiers killed in action “losers” and “suckers”.

Be louder than the fear of COVID

I am writing re: “Should Fresno Parents Have the Choice to Send Kids to Class During Covid-19 Pandemic?” I have a son who has mild autism and anxiety disorder. Unfortunately, this constant change is hurting him more than helping his situation.

School have always been consistent in his life, and the fact that they will remain closed has affected many like my son who are struggling with the same disability. It's understandable to fear in regard to our children remaining in school during this pandemic. However, why should our children pay for the fear that has been constantly emphasized in our community?

We are so scared of this virus, and we are missing the true effects it’s having on our children. While we are waiting for COVID-19 to plateau, we are allowing it to also plateau our children’s education. For instance, many being stuck and held at the same grade level they were in when this all first started.

For these reasons, I write to you because our children have no voice and we the parents must be louder than fear itself.

Acting like pampered children

The letter from Roger Fast in the Sept. 4 Bee sadly reflects the failure of many Christian pastors who seem more interested in pleasing people than in pleasing God. They lead their flock into failing the second temptation of Christ by commanding (rather than claiming) the promises of God, demanding that God protect them from their own foolishness. They claim to be persecuted when in fact they are like pampered children complaining that their Wifi is out and there is no chocolate milk in the fridge.
