Nurse’s message: Wear the mask

I am a nurse in a Fresno hospital. I spend almost eight hours a day in an N95 mask, an isolation gown and face shield testing for COVID-19 patients who need to come into our hospital for a procedure to keep them and our staff safe. It is hot and uncomfortable.

I have watched week by week our hospital get more and more COVID patients. I am an old ICU nurse, I know those nurses are going through even more discomfort in full PPE gear for 12 hours trying to keep their patients alive.

I recently blew my stack shopping at my local market when I saw a man also shopping with no mask. I took his picture and put it on my Facebook page and will send it to the store’s corporate office. It is the only way I can fight the ignorance and selfishness of people that will never see this virus destroy lives and families. I always wear a mask to protect others, on and off duty.

Trump a much better choice

Regarding the “Evangelicals, Trump and hypocrisy” letter published July 19: My response to Mr. Dashjian is that when the other political party continues to put forth extreme leftist, socialist, elitist, oligarchist, panders to every conceivable perversion and heinous act, tax and spend big government advocates the likes of Bill and Hillary Clinton, Sanders, Obama, Gore, Pelosi, Harris et al and the current mia Joe Biden, President Trump, even with his difficult person-hood, is, hands down the better choice.

Why no outcry for fallen officers?

I recently received the Summer 2020 edition of “HOPE” magazine, which is a publication of C.O.P.S (Concerns of Police Survivors). C.O.P.S. is a supportive organization for family members, co-workers, and friends of law enforcement officers who have died while on duty.

On Page 30 are two sentences of statistics: “In 2019, over 150 officers died in the line of duty. Over 220 officers died by suicide. That’s almost 400 officers taken from us in one year.”

These were men and women who pinned on the badge to support and defend us, the public. It is a demanding job, and the majority fulfill their responsibilities with courage and honor. I just have one question: Where is the outcry?

Roger Stone deserves a medal

Roger Stone should now be the recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Although Stone is a convicted felon who has lied to prosecutors, tampered with witnesses — one of whose lives he threatened — Stone was doing his part to Make America Great Again and protect the president. The MAGA priorities — denying the Kung Flu pandemic and allowing Russia to pay Taliban fighters to kill American troops in Afghanistan — are vital to patriots like Roger Stone.

Others in line for the Medal of Freedom are Michael Flynn and Paul Manifort, whose prison sentences will also be commuted. These men, like Roger Stone, exemplify our nation’s highest principles and are devoted to serve the president to Make America Great Again.

Don’t fall for Democrats fear

Fear has become a way for politicians to control and assert power over people in this country. I have noticed that some people become so dramatic and emotional about their children fearing death from COVID-19. This fear has become irrational, and has convinced so many that they must just avoid moving forward in life and become immobile, instead of following recommended guidelines and respectful behavior toward others to prevent the spread of this highly contagious virus. They prefer instead to just continue to blame President Trump unfairly for the spread of this disease.

Many can no longer trust Democrats with the truth. While our president has his flaws and sometimes disappoints us, many of us see through the exaggerations and hatred encouraged by the Democrats.
