Rule of law must apply all times

Regardless of your political affiliation, the truth is glaringly evident …guilt or innocence is not dependent on “the rule of law” (innocent until proven guilty) but more importantly, on your political affiliation.

Many in the Democratic party — Mazie Hirono, Kamala Harris, Corey Booker, Kristin Gillibrand, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer and many more — were vicious and intemperate toward Brett Kavanaugh, validating Christine Blasey Ford’s accusations of sexual assault without any corroborating evidence, and in fact, there were elements in her testimony that were debunked, meaning she lied. Nearly every Democrat buttressed the accusation of rape against the Supreme Court nominee. What a sham.

Now that Joe Biden is the accused, the consensus is opposite. Now, the rule of law is actually applied … why?

I’ve seen no evidence in any of the anti-Trump media, including The Fresno Bee, of genuine investigative reporting to get to the truth. While AOC has acknowledged Tara Reade’s accusation that she should be believed, the correct response should be, follow the rule of law regardless of an individual’s political preference. AOC actually demonstrates gender bias.

Until we demand truth and equal justice from all our representatives, there is no freedom. Don’t go fooling yourselves.

Trump and testing for COVID-19

President Trump states that he does not want widespread coronavirus testing in this country because it will make him look bad. If that is the case, why are he and the people around him in the White House being constantly tested for the virus?

Now one of his personal valets and a staff member of VP Pence have tested positive. If Trump doesn’t want his numbers to look bad within his own White House, he should order no more testing for everyone he comes into contact.

Since he and his White House members do not normally wear masks anyway, no more testing around him would probably reflect on how he wants all of America to follow.

Pastors have right to protest

Michelle Cavanaugh’s letter of May 3rd condemning 32 California pastors who are suing the governor over the right of the people to practice their religion is based on an absurd premise. Her argument, that people must accept the authority of the government without question, is, in her words, appalling.

With her kind of thinking Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. would have been condemned by her for speaking out and protesting against the Jim Crow laws and other legislation that discriminated against minorities. With her appalling thinking the people who argued against slavery would have been wrong to question the government.

When governmental leaders go unchecked by the enlightened, informed citizenry we would have despotism in our state and federal houses. With that kind of thinking the Nazis would be unquestioned, the fascists would be unquestioned, as well as the communists.

Sorry Michelle, while I do agree that people must adhere to the rule of law, I cannot conceive that God would ever want the people to blindly accept the rule of tyrants. Our rights, as spelled out in the Constitution, come from God and the limits on power listed in the Constitution are only on the government.

Blind obedience to the government is far more appalling than 32 pastors standing up in a legal manner for their rights.
