Borgeas helps with informing: Letters to the editor, May 10, 2020
Thanks Borgeas for useful information
Republican Andreas Borgeas (California Senate) has been a leader at the forefront of getting information to us about the coronavirus. He doesn't tout conspiracy theories or use dangerous rhetoric. His Twitter account has all sorts of useful links and information that we, as small business owners, can use.
It seems that reasonable Republican leadership is few and far between these days. Thanks for being our voice in California. Hope to cast a vote for Gov. Andreas Borgeas one day.

GOP right, Dems wrong on COVID
If nothing else the COVID-19 pandemic has proven several things: (1) That the right-wing “preppers” were right all along; (2) That we would have been better off if this country would have acceded early on to the president’s closed border policies. Think about how much less severe this virus would have been if the Democrats would not have so stubbornly fought against reasonable immigration policies; (3) That the months-long Democrat-inspired impeachment process — a wasted cause if there ever was one — caused us to lose focus on what was really important.

Work together, not against each other
After more than a month’s time that we have spent socially restricted, maybe it is time to look at this free time we have and understand that this, like the virus, will not last forever either. We have a limited lifespan, so maybe this coronavirus has given us a chance to consider how we are spending our time now.
If you have spent the time getting to know your family better, read a few more books, exercised more consistently, ate better by cooking more of your meals, learned to relax, talked more to relatives that are not close by, contributed to critical charities, then you have not wasted the time.
What world leaders need to do now, in addition to figuring out strategies for economic recovery, is take a few of those experts and have them work together with other learned individuals and start revving up strategies for the effects of climate change. The same energy individuals are putting into creating a vaccine and appropriate testing, producing more protective gear and masks, building more ventilators, that sense of urgency could be summoned with another group of international experts to work on climate solutions.
Working together rather than competing against each other seems to be the message nature is sending us. Hurry up, there is not any time to waste.

Let’s call an ‘all stop’ order now
When there is an accident at a major airport, controllers put out an “All stop” command, where all aircraft stop wherever they are on the airport ground. This order does not stop medical services, fire services, or stop activities in the terminal. But it means the activities related to aviation, at the site, come to an abrupt cessation. Activities resume when the accident is cleared up and the controllers feel it is safe to recommence.
Our country has had a major accident and the word has gone out for all activities to come to a halt. This order should have gone to all activities, stopping them completely until safe to resume. We need a personal debt standstill, for individuals, until the country opens up again, with no repercussions. What is good for the goose is good for the gander.
P.S. that includes the poor basketball players who are going to take a 25% cut. Need to tow the line like everyone else who is out of work.
