On impeachment and the Senate
The philosophical question of the day is: “If an impeachment falls in the woods but was not heard by the Senate, did it really happen?”
The answer to this question is, of course, “No!”
The reason why is because there was no basis for it in the first place.
Obviously, the rules for impeachment must be changed in the House of Representatives, which will obviously require a new house majority.
Representatives who fail their constituents need to be replaced immediately.
May God help us to choose mature leaders of character.

Avenue 12 is a blatant speedway
I read with interest the opinion piece by Marek Warszawski regarding Avenue 9 in Madera County. As a resident of Madera Ranchos, I have traveled on Avenue 9 and I completely agree that it can be dangerous to drive on. However I do take exception to Mr Warszawski’s comments regarding Avenue 12.
He stated: “By contrast, Avenue 12 has wide paved shoulders as well as a traffic signal and stop signs through Madera Ranchos that help control speeds.” I live on Avenue 12 and nothing could be further from the truth.
First of all, there is one stoplight at the west end of the Ranchos, and no stop signs before that. The traffic on Avenue 12 has increased exponentially in the seven years we have been here. Very few drive at the posted speed limit. It’s dangerous and there have been multiple accidents.
I’ve attended Board of Supervisors meetings with many others, to no avail. We have gravel trucks speeding through, motorcycles that think it’s a speedway and no sidewalks for kids walking home from school. Come live on Avenue 12 for a week. You’ll see what I mean.
As a side note, very little CHP presence.

America and Middle East confusion
We seem to have forgotten that the country responsible for 9-11 was our ally Saudi Arabia. None of our presidents had much to say about it. Maybe oil had something to do with that.
They also murdered an American journalist in Turkey, but our president didn't say much about that.
But we decided to take out the second in command general in Iran with no proof to the American people that he was going to attack America or any of our troops.

Americans are just so lazy
Convenience is the new face of laziness in America.
We tell Amazon Alexa to turn off the television when the remote is five feet away because it is convenient. We buy coffee at a Starbucks rather than make it at home because it is convenient. We have our food delivered through Grubhub because it is convenient.
Convenience has consequences. Convenience make us a more lazy society. We are heading down a path as a society where we will end up like the people in Pixar’s “WALL-E,” where the lives of all humans were dependent on convenience through robots. To turn away from this path, start by picking up your television remote. Start by making your own coffee. Start by going to the restaurant yourself.
We can’t let convenience control us; if we let it, we would be cheating ourselves.
