Nunes promotes Putin’s goals

It’s fascinating how Devin Nunes actually does promote Russian goals. Nunes attacks our free press and discredits U.S. government agencies, especially our intelligence agencies. He strongly promotes ludicrous “theories” invented by Russian president Vladimir Putin, ignores Pentagon studies and conclusions about Russian goals and actions, calls his critics anti-American and more.

The fact Nunes is on the Intelligence Committee means he has access to all the facts, rejects the evidence and sides with Russia seems treasonous. It’s amazing that he has so much influence.

GOP puts party before country

Thank you Republican House members of Congress for voting “No” on the two articles of impeachment of President Trump. Your vote is now on the record against impeaching a president who will be regarded as the most corrupt POTUS in history.

Before next fall, the Supreme Court will have confirmed that Congress is indeed an equal branch of government as provided in the U.S. Constitution. That decision will direct the documents that have already been subpoenaed by the House to finally be released by the Trump adminstration. White House staff testimony, under oath, by Don McGann, the White House counsel, and other officials that is currently being withheld will be required.

I look forward to this fall's election when every Democrat running against the Republican incumbent will point to his GOP rival and say “That gentleman voted against impeaching the most corrupt president in U.S. history. That congressmen put his party affiliation above the U.S. Constitution that he swore under oath to protect. That congressman failed in his duty as a public servant to protect our system of government and the precious democracy that many of our forebears died for.”

It’s time for Nunes to step down

It is now time for Devin Nunes to resign. He has long stopped representing the constituents that sent him to Washington. He holds no town halls, refuses to answer the phones and is without regard to the oath he took. Now, he is a witness and most likely a participant in the crimes being perpetrated in this White House. We are being gaslitt as a nation and he is complicit. The 22nd district deserves better.

Peacemakers needed to head off war

By all accounts the decision to assassinate the first in command of Iran’s military forces was made by an impulsive president encouraged by limited and short-sighted advisory staff. The motivation is as suspect as the underlying strategy.

As we hunker down in anticipation of the “proportional” retaliation, the declaration by our decretary of state that we are all safer now is a self-serving fantasy. A president of limited intellectual and real-world capacity is leading us to the precipice of a mideast conflagration that will result in death and destruction and a threat to the world’s economic and political order.

Once the dogs of war are unleashed there is no knowing the consequences. History proves “big” men with “small” minds have always led nations and societies into bloody and horrific turmoil. Are there any peacemakers at the highest level who can reign in those leading us down these darkening paths? Let us hope and even pray.
