Nunes clairvoyant? Letters to the editor, Dec. 18, 2019

Who knew Devin Nunes was clairvoyant?

Who knew Devin Nunes was clairvoyant? His opening statements in the impeachment inquiry hearings make references to photographs of a nude Donald Trump. The witness testimonies are disrobing the emperor. Lets hope the White House has a pair of suspenders and a barrel.

GOP now a party of bad people

Intelligence and thinking determine how people assess threats in the world. Those with lower ability — reasoning skills, processing speed and so forth — prefer simple and predictable answers because that is what they are capable of processing.

Uncertainty is threatening, and they respond to such threats by trying to preserve what is familiar and safe, the status quo. These conservative reactions are basic and normal—they reduce anxiety—but over time they harden into more stable and pervasive world views, which include stereotypical thinking, avoidance, prejudicial attitudes and over-discrimination.

Then they vote against their better interests.

Republicans stand for cutting taxes on the rich and slashing social programs. In 2017 they succeeded in ramming through a huge tax cut aimed mainly at corporations and the wealthy, and came within one vote of passing a health “reform” that would have caused 32 million Americans to lose health coverage.

A Republican campaign built entirely on lies should be a political issue — a reason to vote Democratic even if you want tax cuts. For we’re not just talking about a party selling bad ideas on false pretenses. The addiction to lies has also — let’s be blunt — turned it into a party of bad people.

Risking all to defend the truth

Not all American patriots are born in Boston, Baltimore, or Boulder. Some begin life outside of the United States, immigrate here, as did once Alexander Hamilton, then learn to love their new country as much as any native born son. One was even born in Kiev, emigrating from Ukraine at age 3 with his father and two brothers.

On Nov. 19 over national television a trilingual Eastern Europe expert lieutenant colonel bravely risked his 20 year U.S. Army career to expose and defend the truth. Thank you patriot Alexander Vindman.

Appreciates coverage of criminals

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you to each and every person, news agency, investigative team, UC Berkeley, Bay Area News Group, McClatchy, MediaNews Group, USA Today Network,Voice of San Diego, Reveal from the Center for Investigative Reporting, etc. for exposing these criminals. And thank you to The Fresno Bee and Mercury News for printing this information.

There are many, many more of these criminals out there, but the citizens who have tangled with them on various levels are too afraid to turn them in. So even with this vast amount of criminals you've exposed, and these only in the last 10 years, just imagine the number there would be if every crime they’ve committed had been reported. Just imagine. Again, I wish to thank you.

Why let all the puppets testify?

I watched (Gordon) Sondland’s testimony and I came to a conclusion: Ppresident Trump is either guilty as charged or he is the most stupid president ever to serve . If he is not guilty, why not let all his puppets testify and provide all documents that Congress is requesting? If he is not guilty, show them — what are you afraid of, Mr. President?
