Brown lawns, cleaner air

I read the letter about landscape going brown and how it can negatively impact our fouled air.

I have a different opinion: The air could actually be better without gas lawn mowers and edgers. I have read many times that lawnmower engines are very polluting.

Add to that those darn blowers, which not only pollute from their engines but also blow other bad stuff into the air. The air could be cleaner without them — and there’d be much less noise pollution.

Add to that a decrease in excess fertilizer running into the storm drains. Why would anyone fertilize if you are not watering your lawn?

So what water we have will be cleaner and cost less for treatment.
