A moderate Democrat is better than no Democrat

Democrats need to recognize the threats from within our own party.

The letter, “Democrats should reject Janz’ politics,” should focus our minds. This is not just a competition between candidates with opposing views. This was a vicious attack designed to drive a stake into the heart of Andrew Janz’s campaign.

Emily Cameron states “Progressives have a moral imperative to keep Janz out of Congress.” Would she rather have Rep. Devin Nunes as our congressional representative?

That is a sobering thought for any Democrat. We need to reject divisive politics. It is through moderate Democrats that we are going to take back the Senate and House.

We can already see a path to victory. Ralph Northam, a moderate Democrat, just became Governor of Virginia and Doug Jones, another moderate Democrat, just became a Senator from the state of Alabama.

If they had been progressives, it is unlikely they would have won in those conservative areas. We also see bitterness in the general election. During the 2016 presidential election, the websites of some anti-Clinton progressives had posted, “he’s bad, but she’s just as bad.”
