Two can play the NIMBY game
Carol Capitola’s letter published Jan. 26 regarding talk of a music festival featuring Snoop Dogg in Woodward Park reminded me of all the NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard) folks. She must live in north Fresno near the park (operated by the city of Fresno).
Well, right back at you Ms. Capitola! I live near Kearney Park (operated by Fresno County) and I say NIMBY too! Kearney Park is the home of Kearney Mansion and has great historic value to the agriculture community and is not a concert venue – there’s no amphitheater, just acres of trees and lawn in a quiet rural neighborhood.
I am sure my neighbors do not want pot smoking, drinking, trash or vandalism to their property and the “certain element” that Ms. Capitola is so concerned about any more than north Fresno residents do.
In fact, we may appreciate the noise and assorted other inconveniences even less since most of us chose our quiet rural lifestyle just for the peaceful existence we enjoy.
NIMBY Ms. Capitola!
