Stop the mayhem and protect our children

Another story about mayhem (“Police ID two students fatally shot at school,” Jan. 23) in America is sometimes too much to bear. The pain and suffering felt by the parents and loved ones of those youngsters slain and injured is beyond that of which I ever want to personally witness or directly be a part of.

I feel for them, and I feel their pain. Some of us believe we understand why these things are happening in this great nation. I believe it to be my civic duty as a responsible and law-abiding citizen to say to the American people who find these atrocities unconscionable or not understandable the following:

We will continue to reap what we've sown in this country until we begin the painstaking, bureaucratic task of taking this country back from a political system that has somehow missed the boat of shielding and protecting its citizens, our children.
