Put rail problems on front page

Two workers were injured when steel rebar collapsed at a high-speed rail viaduct construction site near the San Joaquin River and Highway 99 in mid-November. Rising costs from delays, land purchases and other factors are driving up the estimated cost of construction in the Valley by almost 36 percent from two years ago, to about $10.6 billion.

Tim Sheehan’s report in today’s Bee titled “Cost of high-speed rail project in the Valley leaps by $2.8 billion” was very informative and should be a financial disaster alarm broadcast to all Californians.

Only problem I had with it is it should have been on the front page above the fold.
