Keeping Christ in Christmas takes action, not words

To keep Christ in Christmas, give a hug to someone and forgive her.
To keep Christ in Christmas, give a hug to someone and forgive her.

Every year, we hear suggestions on how to keep Christ in Christmas. I have heard suggestions such as visit the homeless, set up nativity scenes or play spiritual songs. All are good, and I want to mention an additional one.

Go out of your way to do something for another person. Call people directly and wish them “Merry Christmas.” We think texting and emailing them is an easier way, but long-distance calling means you took the effort to talk a long time with somebody.

Forgive somebody, even though it is hard. The other person may not call unless we do it first. Hug somebody that you find hard to show affection to.

Doing hard things is what Christ did and we can keep Christ in Christmas by doing things that are hard to do.
