Save Social Security, Medicare, turn state solid blue

We must replace Congressmen Tom McClintock, Devin Nunes, Jeff Denham and David Valadao as they are knowingly, or unwittingly, helping to move this country toward fascism.

Hitler and Mussolini (whose was rallying cry was, “Make Italy Great Again”) brought together big business and nationalism (whether you call it “populism,” or something else) all to the detriment of the middle and working classes. They accomplished that in many ways, including denigrating scientists, academics and intellectuals, as well as exaggerating “they” as being “different.”

Today we have this administration, with the help of GOP Congressmen, assigning wealthy individuals to head departments that they know little or nothing about, only that they intend to “shrink them,” climate denial, vilifying Muslims and immigrants, all the while asserting that anything they disagree with be labeled “socialism.”

Now we have the GOP tax plan, which brings together the wealthy and powerful versus everyone else. Consider that this tax plan will hit Medicare next year, with an up to $25 billion cut.

Ted Cruz, with Marco Rubio and Paul Ryan have already announced the next target will be Social Security, and further cuts to Medicare. I see only one possible solution, namely we must try to turn California solid blue. No exceptions.

Tim McCollum, Tollhouse
