The children we don’t talk about

With the huge issue of immigration arising, most people tend to focus on either the undocumented adults and children who are here in the U.S.

But, there is one group of people who are usually always left out of the conversation: the documented children of undocumented immigrants. They, too, suffer from all of this because they are split between two nations that they can identify with. They also live in fear of their parents being deported back to their native lands.

It is very common for people to question their fears and worries because they think that just because those children are documented, they have nothing to worry. They won’t be the ones being deported.

But, a huge responsibility falls on them because they need to worry about what would happen if their parents did get deported, then what would they do? It’s even more stressful if they have younger siblings. It is time that these children’s perspective be brought to light and acknowledged that they, too, are victims of the immigration issues that have affected this nation.
