Too much pressure for teen girl

As a young teen-age girl, I feel pressure. It’s not from my fellow young hormonal classmates, but from the people I should trust the most: Teachers, principals, even the school system.

It amazes me, because we’ve been living on this earth for only a quarter of our lives. That quarter is filled with standardized tests, sitting in classrooms full of other young people who can’t find their calling because we’re all stuck.

We are all stuck trying to figure out what we want to do until retirement by the time we’re 18 and graduated from high school. The pressure of being perfect with the perfect GPA and perfect SAT score to get into a college that will eventually lead us into debt.

This isn’t just to address other teens. This is to address parents. We’re trying our hardest. We’re doing what we can. Eventually, we’re going to end up like you guys. We will be robots who work in small corner offices with bachelor’s degrees.

Pressure is inevitable in a world that seems to be stuck in the 1950s. We all have different needs, different interests. The only question that needs to be asked in this school system is “Why?”
