How health care crisis affects your wallet
Health and wealth go hand in hand.
You may not support expanding access to health care for more families. You may think it costs too much, or it’s not the government’s responsibility, or whatever.
But you do support your purse, right? You watch your money. You guard your finances and do everything you can to make sure you and your family are taken care of.
Think of health as creating wealth. A recent story in The Bee states that about $430 million would be eliminated from our local economy without expanded Medi-Cal. The fact is this: when it comes to health care, it costs more to provide less.
We all suffer, because we will all subsidize the emergency room visits that will take the place of other services. Then our insurance premiums will rise, assuming you are lucky enough to have insurance in the first place.
Let’s fix the health-care crisis for families and finances.
