GOP takes ‘money stained by blood of innocents’

We now know what Donald Trump meant when he spoke of the “American carnage.” He was referring to the slaughter and mayhem that periodically rains down upon innocent citizens, as in Las Vegas and now, Texas.

Complicit in this carnage are the president and his fellow Republicans, who lack the courage to legislate against the all-powerful gun lobby.

Unbelievably, Congress recently abolished a restriction that prevented people with severe psychiatric disorders from purchasing guns. No matter that 26 lives were stolen at Sandy Hook, 20 of them precious children.

No matter that almost 100 additional lives have been taken recently by madmen with a plethora of guns. What matters is that the NRA will sell more guns, and will, in turn, provide the donations that Republicans crave – notwithstanding the fact that it is money stained by the blood of innocents.

Current polling indicates that a majority of citizens support stricter gun laws and stricter regulations on ammunition, and 94 percent support background checks.

Please ensure that our representatives cast votes that reflect the wishes of the majority of citizens in this country by pledging not to vote for legislators who accept donations, large or small, from the NRA.
