Cali voters duped by bag bans

The irony of Proposition 67, which banned plastic bags from some businesses, allows some stores to offer paper bags or “ thicker plastic” bags, as long as long as they at least charge 10 cents each. But that charge is not required for restaurants and department stores.

The people of California were duped into passing a law that does not eliminate plastic bags that pollute our environment but instead made it legal to charge for them. That profit benefits the plastic industry and businesses, since paper and plastic bigs initially were given free of charge.
