City Hall camp protest: Who gives them the right?

I am writing in response to Mike Rhodes suggested protest “sleepover” (letter, Sept.24.)

Is he crazy? How dare he cause people to break the law by telling them to come and sleep at Fresno City Hall. Who gave him or the homeless the right to sleep in a public place? Years ago, that would not be allowed. We used to call it vagrancy.

Does he think it’s OK for the homeless to pitch a camp wherever they want? There are a few who have mental problems, but most of them just do whatever they feel like doing. Our city is thrashed because of this problem and here he is saying it’s OK.

Has he asked one of them to come camp out at his house? We live in an older neighborhood, and we see it all around us. Is it OK with him that they don’t pick up after themselves?

Please, all you nice people stay home. This law is not immoral, it’s needed to keep Fresno decent.
