Grocery line economics shames abuse of elderly
I am totally disappointed in my California and federal government.
I just returned from the grocery store after helping a very elderly couple before me in line. Their purchase was $5 and change above the amount of money they had, and the elderly wife began to cry. I paid the difference of their bill and gave them the $30 in my wallet. I can take money from one of my accounts; they were dirt poor until their next Social Security check.
What is wrong in our country today? Our elderly are forgotten citizens while the state of California steals taxpayer money for those people who enter our country illegally. When will the federal government increase benefits for those living and dependent on Social Security? We need to help our own first. Shame on our state and federal government that allow such abuse to happen.
