Why stop at Calexit III? Divide California into 67 states

Reading the Calexit III article Aug. 22, I’m reminded of Trumpers’ marveling at the wisdom of our Founding Fathers regarding the Electoral College. Small states get a bigger voice against larger states than the popular vote alone would give them, while providing a last chance to block an amateurish blowhard from office.

Why stop at dividing us into three or six states?

After some quick arithmetic, I realized we could divide California into 67 states with the population of Wyoming. California states one through 67 each would get the minimum one representative in the House. Assuming the same ratio of Democrats to Republicans, that would be 49 to 18, increasing the Democratic majority from The Californias by six. Also, since the House is at its maximum membership, our additional members would come from large states. Texas is going to hate that!

Best of all: California states one through 67 would each get two senators, ballooning the Senate to 232 members. Again, assuming the same proportion of Democrats to Republicans, that would put the Democrats back in control of the Senate with a 144 to 88 supermajority. The Founding Fathers were, indeed, wise!
