Celebrate one another with respect, dignity
The tragic and fatal events that took place in Charlottesville should give us pause to rethink what is happening in our nation today.
President Trump’s “Make America Great Again” has brought about a resurgence of hate, bigotry, discrimination and intolerance, which again has divided this nation.
How can we forget the many marches, the boycotts, the violence, the water hosing inflicted on so many, the dogs and the subsequent murders of Martin Luther King Jr. and so many others who died for the rights of others?
Trump and his administration fail to accept that the many immigrants who journeyed to America so long ago helped build this nation. He also fails to understand that we are a nation of diverse cultures and color who have joined together and have enriched this country. We will never be the all-white nation that he wants.
We must become the nation that celebrates and embraces one another with respect, tolerance and dignity. So when you buy into Trump’s motto, you are buying into the hate, the bigotry, the discrimination and the intolerance that we witnessed in Charlottesville.
