I went to mass for the first time in years. ‘Lord, I pray. It hurts’

Not even a solar eclipse can darken the gloom President Trump has cast over the Constitution, it’s citizens, and shamefully before the eyes of the world. I was stunned, enraged, confused, finally a deep-seated hurt came over me like a cloud of unstoppable depression.

What is going on with this poor excuse of a man? Why is he allowing hate groups to divide Americans by baiting peaceful anti-protesters into a race war?

That “agenda” they talk about, that “take back America” phrase or their hate-filled ideology, what’s it really about? Certainly not jobs.

The world is watching and I imagine Iran, North Korea, and Russia are salivating about our pending self-destruction at the hands of a pseudo-intellectual hate monger.

It hurts to see the pictures of that brave young warrior who stood up for justice and lost her life. Finally, I must ask, “Why are the rest of us frozen and unable to take positive action”?

I haven’t been to mass in years, but I was compelled to do so this evening, to pray for America to weather this ugly blemish called racism. Lord, I pray. It hurts.
